Engineering and Manufacturing Facility
Garmin AT, a producer of GPS equipment for aircraft, is currently expanding their facility at the Salem Airport. The addition will double the size of the existing building, and will accomodate an expanded engineering department, equipment manufacturing floor, conference rooms, and an employee dining/meeting area with a panoramic view of the airport and south Salem hills.
The existing building is being reworked with a new exterior skin and windows. The silvery siding panels evoke the skin of an aircraft, and are one of the first uses of this material in Oregon. Extensive skylights flood key areas of the building with natural light, helping to bring the outdoors in.
